Lianne has been in the world of beauty since she was a young child. Her mother and Nana routinely let her use Noxzema and peel off masks when she was 8. In 1983, she started modeling while in high school in St. Louis, MO. Often…the makeup artists that were hired to paint her face for the many advertisements she was appearing in, didn’t have the correct shade (her face routinely appeared 4 shades lighter than the rest of her body). She knew there had to be something she could do. Enter Christopher Starr, a makeup artist who was hired at the last minute on one of her jobs. He saw that she needed help, and immediately taught Lianne what to buy. Then he showed her how to mix her own shade of foundation so if she were ever in that position again, she would know what to do. It was that priceless experience that sparked something in Lianne that propelled her to dabble in makeup and color blending. First on her friends, then on herself and eventually for some of the biggest brands in the business like Prescriptives, Clarins, Borghese and Lancome.
As a writer/beauty editor Lianne has also contributed to several online publications such as Mwari Magazine, The Fairest, She Finds, TheGloss.com and Clutch Magazine to name a few. In May of 2010, Lianne was named Head of the US Edition of the Parisian social platform HelloCotton. Most recently, Lianne was one of ten bloggers chosen by the Estee Lauder Companies owned MAC Cosmetics to create her own eye shadow in their lab in Toronto. She called it “Hocus Pocus” and it sold out in less than a week. Currently, she is a brand ambassador for such iconic brands like Avon and Aveeno.
Lianne has also been an educator in the online marketing arena where beauty & lifestyle brands are concerned. She has held Q & A sessions for corporations like Unilever and spoken on blog panels like the HBA Expo & The Makeup Show in New York City about blogging, the importance of transparency and the do’s and don’ts of pitching for brands and PR. She also consults full time for brands and blogs alike looking to raise their online profile. Lianne currently resides in the Washington, DC metro area.
