Wooooo! Another beautiful voice that reminds me of one from the past. Raheem DeVaughn is a self proclaimed “R&B hippie neo-soul rock star” but to me….his voice sounds like smooth creamy melted chocolate. His melodies are so very effortless….he slips in an out of falsetto forcing comparisons to D’Angelo (I miss him…) and Donny Hathaway (miss him too..) He has that vintage vibe, yet he is still able to remain very current and radio friendly.
This particular song, was never released as a single, but I always find that I usually am drawn to the ones that don’t make it that way. That’s right, I love the proverbial “B” sides that people think “won’t sell” or “are no good for radio” blah blah….does any of that matter now? I have been subscribing to satellite radio for going on 5 years now, I don’t remember the last time I heard an actual radio station. They play this on Heart & Soul all the time. So for your Sunday Slow Jam…here’s Raheem’s sexy….”Ask Yourself“…..
